The CNDS course for Teachers and Dancers is designed to train candidates to become teachers of the Compagnia Nazionale di Danza Storica with a view to setting up new courses in Rome and the surrounding province, and in the Lazio Region. The course is designed to train also those who wish to start teaching Historical Dance in their own dance schools located in other Italian regions, as members of CNDS or cooperating with CNDS groups that already exist in their areas and interacting with national headquarters.
Course structure
The course develops over two years and it is organized into three-month periods. It’s scheduled to take place over a weekend for a total of 10 hours each time plus a cycle of remote learning theoretical classes.
In the second year course students will be offered a Traineeship at Grand Balls, Tea Dances, Workshops for students and, if possible, they’ll be coached by our teachers assisting them during the weekly classes they teach.
Students will take a final exam to be awardd the title of CNDS Master. A certificate of attendance will be issued.

- History of Dance
- History of Music
- History of Costume
- Historical Dance (Regency and second half of the 19th century with some Renaissance and Baroque dances)
- Scottish Dance (Soloist Technique)
Teaching material
Participants will be given handouts of both theoretical and practical courses at the beginning of each three-month course.
Eligibility requirements
The course is addressed to individuals aged 18 to 40 who have graduated from high school and have a basis in Ballet equivalent to the 5th academic course.
The following experiences would be a plus
- Semi-professional experience in a dance discipline
- Teaching experience
